Psychotherapy is different from many other services you may buy, participate in, or interact with. Its power comes from the fact that you are completely free to tell your story -- and come to understand it, yourself -- in a confidential environment with a professional who has no agenda other than to try to help you move forward to a more fulfilling place in your life. (The only exception to confidentiality is if you are planning on hurting yourself or others.) The success of a course of therapy is directly related to the effort you put into it and regular attendance at an agreed-upon interval. The best therapy results come from honest effort on both of our parts, good communication and regular attendance at therapy.
For Couples' Sessions: I use double-sessions as my initial preferred model (two 50 minute sessions with a small break between them). This enables deeper, richer work than a mere 50-minutes with a couple could afford. It is not assumed that sessions are weekly. At the first double-session a recommendation will be made re: frequency that will allow for you to practice skills learned, as well as being clinically indicated. Unlike other some other models of couples' work RLT allows for deeper, quicker work that might mean fewer overall sessions. "Tune-ups," however, will be recommended as seems to be indicated. RLT Couples' Sessions fee are $285/hour. (i.e., $570 for the double-session). A sliding fee schedule is available for those who are going through genuine financial hardships and have less available resources. Please inquire if this is the case.
For Individual Psychotherapy: At our first session (the Assessment, lasting an hour) a lengthy biopsychosocial history will be taken and an evaluation of your strengths, challenges and needs done. By the end of the session I will present to you my recommendations as to what might most help. If we do decide to continue working together, a specific interval will be identified for therapy (i.e., weekly, bi-weekly, etc.) as well as a modality (individual therapy, couples therapy, group therapy) and goals will be discussed. You are free to go forward with these recommendations and continue work with me, or as otherwise recommended seek additional help outside of my practice. Individual Psychotherapy sessions fees are $285/hour. A sliding fee schedule is available for those who are going through genuine financial hardships and have less available resources. Please inquire if this is the case.
Individual sessions (after the initial assessment) are 50 minutes long, and are most often scheduled weekly. There are exceptions, however, wherein someone will be seen twice a week, once every other week, etc.
My "R" status guarantees insurance reimbursability in your state, if your insurance plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits. You will be responsible for paying me full fee each session and I will provide you with a receipt that itemizes the procedure code, diagnosis, place of service, etc. and you will be reimbursed directly (if at all) by your insurance company, in accordance with the details of your plan. Your regular insurance yearly deductible likely will apply and they may consider only a portion of my fee to determine the amount of money you get back from them directly (i.e., “customary and reasonable”).
Acceptable forms of payment are: cash, personal check, Venmo, or Paypal. . Credit cards are accepted as a form of payment but are subject to a 3% additional fee, which will be added on at the time they are used.
Therapy ends when we've re-examined your progress and concluded that you can take things on successfully from this point without the regular support of sessions.
