We live in extraordinary times.
Being in a relationship may be more important than ever. The hopes and expectations we have of each other in our relationships are larger than they've ever been.
But few of us have been taught how to create healthy, well-balanced relationships that last. Falling in love is the easy part.
For couples who find themselves struggling the idea of feeling seen and valued, in "full-throttle intimacy" may seem like science fiction after so many years of adjustments and habits. (And, yes, children.)
It's time to get some skills. Figure out what isn't working and stop it; figure out what does work and do more of it.
How?
An excellent first step is attending the Relationship Boot Camp. Can "Essential Relational Skills" truly be learned in a weekend? The answer is a resounding "yes". (See my blog on this topic by clicking the Blog tab, above.)
Utah therapist Kristy Gaisford, LCSW and I will continue offering the Boot Camp Weekend both in-person and online (via Zoom). You can join us online from anywhere you have a stable internet connection. Many, though, choose an in-person experience. The most comprehensive listing of our upcoming Boot Camp weekends is here: loveworkrelationships.com/how-we-help/relationship-boot-camp/
The Boot Camp is the same as the previously taught by Terry Real, whom we have both trained with, and have both been authorized by his Institute to offer. The workshop is open to both couples and interested individuals of all races, sexual orientations, regardless of marital status.
The Boot Camps are of value to individuals, as well as couples. It is far more than lecture; it is participatory, with break-out groups, personal work and time for questions and reflection.
I also provide Relational Life Therapy informed couples' therapy to couples who are seeking that . I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts.
